TED
La conférence TED est une importante rencontre annuelle qui se tient à Monterey en Californie et plus récemment deux fois par an dans d’autres villes du monde sous l’appellation TED Global.
Depuis 33 ans, la conférence TED aux États-Unis rassemble des esprits brillants dans leur domaine tels que le fondateur de Microsoft, Bill Gates, le designer Philippe Starck, l’ex- Président des U.S.A. Bill Clinton (pour sa fondation) ou encore Bono de U2 (diverses associations caritatives) pour partager leurs idées avec le monde. Face à son succès, TED a voulu permettre à la communauté élargie de ses fans de diffuser l’esprit TED autour du monde. En plus des conférences aux États-Unis, aujourd’hui, il y a des événements TED à l’Université Oxford, en Inde et en Afrique… Les participants aux conférences sont choisis par TED car les organisateurs souhaitent que les échanges entre locuteurs et participants soient variés, inspirés, apolitiques dans un esprit visionnaire et bienveillant. Les sujets traités sont très vastes : économie, société, culture, éducation, écologie, arts, technologie, multimédia, design, marketing…
TEDx
Le programme TEDx a été créé pour permettre au plus grand nombre un accès aux idées et à la passion pour la connaissance. Le x signifie qu’il s’agit d’un événement qui est organisé indépendamment tout en respectant des critères d’organisation définis par l’organisation officielle de TED. Pour pouvoir organiser un événement TEDx avec une participation minimum de plus de 100 personnes, il faut avoir participé à une conférence officielle TED. Si le projet est étayé et conforme aux objectifs TED, il permet d’obtenir la licence pour organiser un TEDx d’envergure.
En 2011, TEDx a atteint les 2000 événements organisés dans le monde entier et en 25 langues. En France, TEDx est présent dans de nombreuses villes dont Paris, Bordeaux, Biarritz ou Lyon. Ces événements français sont uniques et les seuls en langue française.
En 2012, Laurent RAISON avec l’aide de l’association Bretagne ID Large lance la première édition de TEDxRennes.

About TED
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 33 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives. The two annual TED Conferences invite the world’s leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes or less. Many of these talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman.
The annual TED Conference takes place each spring in Vancouver, British Columbia, along with the TEDActive simulcast event in nearby Whistler. The annual TEDGlobal conference will be held this October in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. TED’s media initiatives include TED.com, where new TED Talks are posted daily; the Open Translation Project, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as translations from volunteers worldwide; the educational initiative TED-Ed. TED has established the annual TED Prize, where exceptional individuals with a wish to change the world get help translating their wishes into action; TEDx, which supports individuals or groups in hosting local, self- organized TED-style events around the world, and the TED Fellows program, helping world-changing innovators from around the globe to amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)
